Preparation and Training
International Teams has a marvelous history of training and equipping missionaries. We are moving beyond a common perception that training is something that one can complete. Instead we want to help you build a perception that learning is something you will engage in as a lifelong intentional process. We are committed to providing programs, resources, and an internal culture that encourages you in discovering your passions and gifts and being well fitted into your team ministry.
Advisors within our Human Resources Team are committed to serving both you and your sending church. We have a strong commitment to linking your sending church directly to you and your ministry and giving them resources and helps to do so. You will be assigned and advisor to help you through your missionary experience including practicalities of budget and finances, relationships, clarifying your LifeMap, etc.
The beginning of our member development is a training process called ACCESS. The ACCESS preparation focuses on values, mission, cross-cultural awareness, ministry skills, second language acquisition, and preparation for the specific location you will be going to.
We encourage all of our missionaries to continue their learning not just through information, but also by engaging in learning experiences. These opportunities held around the world at different times are intended for small groups of International Teams missionaries who not only engage in learning opportunities on specific topics, but build strong and lasting relationships with each other so that learning is in the context of community and relationship.
Whatever length of time God calls you to serve with IT, we want you to finish well. ITUSA carefully prepares people before they go abroad in order to mobilize them to build transforming communities. Quality reentry training mobilizes returnees back into their home communities. And so we have developed a program for your reentry to your home culture at the end of your service.
Well-prepared and well-cared-for as missionaries: that is a priority for International Teams!
